Prostate Cancer surgery, Physiotherapy and your pelvic floor

For some men, before and after surgery Physiotherapy is a critical component of comprehensive Prostate Cancer care. Whilst thorough Physiotherapy is more than just pelvic floor exercises, it is a significant part of it.

Physiotherapy and Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer is now the most common Cancer in Australia, surpassing Breast Cancer in mid 2022. You can learn more about the disease in general at Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Cancer Council .

Physiotherapy has a vital role to play, including exercise prescription, continence (bladder control), sexual function and pain management.

Physiotherapy and male pelvic pain

Many blokes suffer in silence with pelvic pain for far too long. There are many possible causes and they do often require thorough evaluation by a medical doctor.

Once this process has been completed, and non-muscuolskeletal causes have been ruled out, Physiotherapy can play a very important role.

Physiotherapy and radiation treatment

Physiotherapy can have a role to play in supporting blokes that are undergoing, or have already undergone, radiation treatment for Prostate Cancer.
